Biography
Dr. Ruan de Jager is a fellowship-trained specialist dermatologist based at Dermaporium in Blouberg, Cape Town. His passion for dermatology was shaped by years of training across some of South Africa's leading institutions, combined with postgraduate studies in the United Kingdom.
He completed his MBChB at Stellenbosch University in 2014, followed by diplomas in Clinical Dermatology and Mental Health, and a Master of Science in Clinical Dermatology from the University of Cardiff in Wales. He then returned to Stellenbosch University to complete his specialist training in dermatology — graduating with distinction in 2025.
In recognition of his academic excellence, Dr. de Jager was awarded the Peter Gordon-Smith Award by the Colleges of Medicine of South Africa (CMSA) for the best performance in the Part II Dermatology Fellowship examination in 2025.
